The new year is the perfect time to take charge of your credit health. Follow this simple 2025 Credit Score Checklist to keep your finances on track and your score climbing:

Check Your Credit Report

Review your report for any negative or inaccurate items that could be hurting your score. Pull reports from all three credit bureaus (it’s free!) and spend 30 minutes scanning for:

  • Mysterious accounts you don’t recognize
  • Outdated negative information
  • Errors can hurt your score. Contact us immediately so we can dispute them.

Review Your Credit Utilization

Aim to keep your credit usage below 30% of your total available credit. Paying down balances can help boost your score.

Quick Strategies:

  • Request credit limit increases
  • Spread charges across cards strategically

Student Loans Are Back

The COVID forbearance period has ended, so make sure you’re making payments on your student loans to stay in good standing.

Maintain Your Credit History

Keep old accounts open, even if they have a $0 balance. You can make occasional small purchases to keep them active. Lengthy credit history can positively impact your score.

Set Up Auto Pay

Never miss a payment! Enroll in autopay for all of your bills to ensure you’re always on time.

  • Credit cards
  • Loan payments
  • Utility bills

Set up text or email alerts as a backup system!

By taking these steps, you’ll set yourself up for success in 2025 and beyond. A healthy credit score opens doors to better rates, approvals, and financial peace of mind.
